Celebrating the life of

Betty J. Morgan

March 28, 1925 - September 29, 2013

Betty J. Morgan

SAVANNAH - Betty Jane Sturtevant Morgan passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, September 29, 2013, surrounded by her beloved family. Betty was born and raised in Savannah where she attended public school and Draughon's School of Business.

For a number of years she worked as a lab technician at Union Camp Corporation where she met Lonnie, the love of her life and soul mate for 63 inseparable years.

She was a past member of Trinity Methodist Church and Woodlawn United Methodist Church.

Betty was a lover of words, a poet at heart, and was quick with the quip. She was a sensational terpsichorean who loved dancing the night away under the stars with her beloved Lonnie. Passionate about music, she was incomparable when it came to lyrical recall.....she could name any tune in five notes or less.

She is predeceased by her mother, Alma Virginia Hobbs Ponder, her father William Bartlett Sturtevant, her stepfather, Doris Foy Ponder, and her beloved brother, William Bartlett Sturtevant.

Betty is survived by her husband, Lonnie Kessler Morgan, her daughters Michelle Rice Michael, and Cynthia Howard Dr. John, and grandchildren: Morgan Ramsey, Dr. Jason Howard Summer, Justin and Jared Howard, Dr. Julia Howard Johnny, and John C. Howard, III. She leaves behind four beautiful great grandchildren: Kinnett, Quincy, Couper, and Cameron, as well as a niece and several nephews.

A special heartfelt gratitude is extended to caregivers Eva Graham and Tina Morta. Also, a special thanks to Hospice Savannah.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Hospice Savannah, P.O Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416 or Saint Andrew's School, 601 Penn Waller Rd., Savannah, GA 31410.

A Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends immediately following service at the home of her daughter and son in law, Cynthia and John Howard, 8 Anchor Court Savannah, GA 31410
